Maine's First Ultra Marathon

THE MAINE MOOSE ULTRA

A 207-mile test through the Northern Maine Woods, The Maine Moose Ultra honors the 207 by pushing runners deep into Maine’s untamed trail system—where the land decides who finishes.

Why The County

Aroostook County

This is a region shaped by resilience, independence, and quiet pride. Wide open spaces create room to think. Tight-knit communities create space to belong. The pace invites clarity, creativity, and focus—things that are increasingly rare elsewhere.

"Not all who wander are lost"

The Road Less Traveled

Aroostook offers something rare:Unrestricted access to the outdoors.Trails that connect people and communities—not just points on a map.A landscape that demands endurance, invites reflection, and builds grit.A culture grounded in effort, authenticity, and showing up when it counts. Here, the challenges are honest. The achievements are earned. Every mile—on the trail or in life—carries weight. This is Aroostook.
Not because it’s easy. Because it’s real.

What We're Known For

Pine Trees, Potatoes, & Pristine Wilderness

Potatoes and timber fueled Aroostook County for more than a century, forged by farmers and woodsmen who worked through cold, isolation, and uncertainty. The same grit that filled cellars and mills still defines this place today.

The Trails

ATV & Snowmobiling

These miles don’t exist by accident. The Maine Moose Ultra runs primarily on established, maintained ATV and snowmobile trails—routes built, cared for, and protected by local clubs who take serious pride in their work. These clubs don’t just maintain trails.
They clear blowdowns.
They cut new lines.
They fix what breaks.
They show up season after season so these paths remain open, safe, and passable.
Every mile reflects that commitment—thoughtfully routed, clearly marked, and shaped by people who know this land because they live here. When you run these trails, you’re not just moving through the woods.
You’re traveling across a network sustained by effort, stewardship, and community.
This isn’t borrowed ground.
It’s earned ground.
